Owners Day a huge success

We had a great day at the Owners’ Day last Sunday and lots of money (£6k+) was raised for this years’ charity The Air Ambulance. The day consisted of welcome drinks, kindly sponsored by Sedgefield Racecourse, a parade of the horses in training, a light dinner in the cabin followed by the Auction and Raffle. Niall Hannity did a brilliant job selling off the Auction lots, many thanks to everyone who donated prizes to such a good cause.

Big thanks to Emma Ramsden and all the team here for their hard work in organising the event.

Landing Night provided us with another winner on the flat (Musselburgh 5f Hcap)  , under a great ride from Rowan Scott for John and Jess Dance. That was our 12th flat winner of the season, doubling last years’ total.

On Tuesday we enjoyed a visit from members of the TBA for a stable tour. After a brisk 3f walk (!) our guests enjoyed watching 4th lot being put through their paces on the gallop , a good look around the yard and a session on the Theraplate! The visit was followed by a lovely lunch in Hardwick Hall, it was great to see a couple of old friends and meet some new ones too.

Halcyon Days has been nominated for a ” NH Magic Moments” Award, a ceremony held at Newcastle Racecourse on the eve of The Fighting Fifth Hurdle in December. He will face some tough competition but it’s incredible that he’s been nominated. Halcyon won 6 chases last season at five different Northern courses and was a model of consistency. Tickets can be purchased for the event and I will post details closer to the time.

Quiet couple of days now in terms of runners, we have runners both days at Chester, MISS GOLDSMITH for West Coast Racing and LANDING NIGHT for John & Jess Dance. We are really busy at home with the jumpers getting in to full swing and the young horses doing loads of schooling in prep for the season ahead.

 Have a good weekend !
