15 winner mark for season !

Miss Goldsmith won nicely this week and followed up her recent win at Ayr , making it 2/2 since she has joined our yard. Graham Lee gave her a great ride and her new owners “West Coast Racing” were thrilled with the result. She is a very tough filly and although she may not have truly stayed the mile, she showed a very tough and willing attitude and put her neck out on the line. It was our first winner at Thirsk and the owners were very well looked after & had a brilliant day out, they are mainly jumps orientated owners but I think they are slowly being converted !

She takes plenty out of herself, both at home and in her races, so she will have an easy few days now in the paddock to recharge her batteries. Thanks to all the team, who have clearly done an outstanding job with her , she’s really enjoying life at the moment and a huge amount of credit needs to go to the lads at home.

Although quiet in terms of runners , there is lots of hard work going on behind the scenes at the moment –  we have been busy getting the jumps horses going (lots of walking and trotting) and most of them have now started cantering. There are a couple of new horses that have joined the team and it’s an exciting time getting to know them & making plans.

Finishing touches are being made to the stables ready for Autumn / Winter, the new gallop is going in and we are investing in some new equipment to improve the already impressive facilities at Howe Hills. The rugs have all been sent away to be cleaned, disinfected and re -proofed and have returned , individually labelled and vacuum sealed. Many thanks to Toadally Clean (based at Thirsk) who went through the mountain that I dropped off!

Tony Kelly has now had his operation on his injured shoulder, which all went well. He is in a sling for approx. 6 weeks and should be returning to a racecourse in November.

A couple of horses in work that are still for sale , GENRES (a number of people interested in smaller shares already) and a half share in promising French recruit DULCE PANEM. Do get in touch if your interested in anything, we have a number of other horses with small shares available for purchase or lease , I’d be very happy to show you around and discuss options.

Few more entries this week, PIKARNIA runs in Perth (B Hughes) for John Wade, then on Monday we have CELTIC ARTISAN, SEARANGER AND LANDING NIGHT at Thirsk and MONSIEUR BAGOT , BLACK KETTLE and SMILING JESSICA at Hexham.

It’s going to be an exciting year , really looking forward to it ! Thanks again to the team , owners and everyone else who is making this such a success..
